The global semiconductor industry has experienced a significant boost in sales during the month of November 2023, according to recent data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Sales for the industry reached a noteworthy $48.0 billion, marking a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
This positive trend in global semiconductor sales is an encouraging sign for the industry as it enters into the new year. John Neuffer, the President and CEO of SIA, highlighted the significance of this growth, stating, “For the first time since August 2022, global semiconductor sales have seen a year-on-year increase in November, signaling a continuation of the global chip market’s growing strength as we embark on the new year.” Neuffer also expressed optimism, predicting double-digit growth for the global semiconductor market throughout 2024.
When analyzing sales performance by region, China emerged as a standout with a 7.6% boost in year-on-year sales. Asia Pacific and all other regions also witnessed positive growth, with a 7.1% increase. Europe and the Americas experienced more modest growth rates of 5.6% and 3.5%, respectively. However, Europe did face a slight reduction of 2.8%.
In terms of month-to-month sales, China, the Americas, and Asia Pacific/All Other regions saw increases of 4.4%, 3.9%, and 3.5% respectively. On the other hand, Japan and Europe observed decreases of 0.7% and 2.0% respectively.
