BYD Launches Groundbreaking Smart Car System, Aims to Lead in Advanced Technologies

Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD has unveiled its AI-powered smart car system, positioning itself as a frontrunner in advanced technologies such as automated parking. The Xuanji smart car system, launched on Tuesday, boasts exceptional capabilities, with the ability to “perceive changes inside and outside the vehicle in milliseconds,” significantly enhancing both driving safety and comfort.

One of the system’s standout features is the integration of the AI Large Model, which grants it access to the industry’s most extensive data foundation. This empowers the Integrated Vehicle Intelligence system with the capacity for continuous adaptation, ensuring that BYD vehicles stay at the forefront of technological advancements.

Speaking at the company’s Dream Day event, Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD, expressed his belief that the system will accelerate the transformation of the auto industry. As the world’s largest electric car maker, BYD has surpassed Tesla as the top-selling EV brand. To maintain this position, the company has committed to investing 5 billion Chinese yuan ($701.8 million) in building the world’s first all-terrain professional test drive sites across cities in China.

BYD has a track record of pioneering autonomous driving advancements. In July last year, the company became the first in China to receive a conditional testing license for L3 autonomous driving on high-speed roads. This refers to conditionally automated driving, where a human driver must be prepared to take over within seconds.

However, the Chinese EV market has become increasingly competitive, leading to intensified price wars and squeezed profitability for manufacturers such as BYD, as well as Nio, Xpeng, and Li Auto. To stay ahead, companies like Xpeng, Nio, Huawei, and Zeekr have recently unveiled new electric vehicle models, joining the race to gain an edge in the market. Even consumer electronics giant Xiaomi has entered the EV market by introducing its own car model.

With the launch of its groundbreaking smart car system, BYD is taking decisive actions to maintain its position as a leader in advanced automotive technologies and continue driving the future of the electric vehicle industry.
