USIBC Launches Artificial Intelligence Task Force to Advance AI Collaboration

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) under the US Chamber of Commerce has announced the formation of the Artificial Intelligence Task Force (AI-TF) to foster collaboration between India and the United States in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The initiative aims to advance AI concepts and principles, promote the development and commercialization of AI technologies, and drive multistakeholder processes.

USIBC President Ambassador Atul Keshap referred to the AI-TF as a “game-changer” that is much needed in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI. The task force will harness the immense potential of AI to enhance competitiveness in both the US and Indian economies.

The establishment of the AI-TF builds on the US Chamber of Commerce’s existing AI principles and its endorsement of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) recommendations on AI. The task force will be instrumental in shaping a future where AI acts as a catalyst for progress, upholds shared values and democratic principles, and drives economic prosperity for both nations.

Industry leaders, including Kamal Ahluwalia, Todd Skinner, and Ed Knight, will lead the AI-TF. Ed Knight, Board Chairman of USIBC and Executive Vice Chairman of Nasdaq, believes that the task force will deepen the partnership between the US and India in terms of innovative and transformative technologies.

The US National Science Foundation Director, Sethuraman Panchanathan, emphasizes the importance of partnerships in developing a trustworthy and secure AI enterprise. He asserts that researchers must collaborate and share resources to achieve cutting-edge innovations while upholding shared values and principles.

The launch of the AI-TF is a significant step towards fostering collaboration and ensuring that AI is adopted in a principled and secure manner. Through collaboration and joint efforts, the task force will provide solutions to address various challenges, such as water challenges, and work towards creating a better future.

As the USIBC represents hundreds of global companies operating in the US, India, and the Indo-Pacific, it will leverage its platform to identify and advance key policy priorities in the field of AI. By bringing together industry leaders and experts, the AI-TF will drive advancements in AI technologies and contribute to the growth and development of both nations.
