Indian data center operator Yotta is set to bolster its AI cloud services with a $500 million purchase of AI chips from Nvidia. This new deal brings Yotta’s total order book with the U.S. firm to $1 billion. The order, scheduled to be placed by March 2025, will consist of nearly 16,000 of Nvidia’s artificial intelligence chips, including the H100 and GH200 models.
The decision to expand their AI capabilities comes at a critical time for Yotta, as the demand for AI solutions in India is on the rise. Last year, Yotta had already placed an order for 16,000 H100 chips with Nvidia, which are due for delivery by July 2022. The CEO of Yotta, Sunil Gupta, emphasized the importance of this infrastructure in realizing India’s AI ambitions. “India’s AI ambition is just not possible unless this infra comes to India,” Gupta said. To further solidify their AI capabilities, Yotta is building an AI data center in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, which is expected to go live by March.
