WeRide Unveils Autonomous Robobus at CES 2024

WeRide, a leader in Level 4 autonomous driving technology, has introduced its latest innovation in autonomous transportation at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. The WeRide Robobus, a fully autonomous minibus, offers visitors the exclusive opportunity to experience a Level 4 autonomous driving demo ride.

Unlike traditional buses, the WeRide Robobus is equipped with advanced technology that allows it to navigate the streets with ease. This autonomous minibus integrates WeRide’s proprietary software and hardware solutions, including lidar, high-definition cameras, blind-spot lidar, and millimeter-wave radar. With these features, the Robobus achieves a comprehensive 360-degree awareness of its surroundings and can accurately detect obstacles within a 200-meter range.

Despite its compact size, the WeRide Robobus can accommodate up to ten passengers. It is powered by a single 120 kW electric motor, providing a top speed of 40 km/h and a range of 300 km according to the NEDC. The minibus is designed to recognize lane markings, traffic lights, signs, pedestrians, and other vehicles, ensuring seamless navigation through complex urban traffic scenarios.

WeRide’s partnership with Yutong Group has been crucial in the development and production of the Robobus. Yutong Group, known for its expertise in bus manufacturing, invested 200 million USD in the production of the autonomous buses. In fact, Yutong’s Xiaoyu 2.0 model, also created in collaboration with WeRide, was awarded the prestigious 2021 Red Dot Award for its design.

WeRide’s dedication to autonomous driving technology is evident in the company’s extensive research, testing, and operations in over 26 cities worldwide. With over 25 million kilometers of autonomous driving mileage and partnerships with industry leaders such as Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, GAC Group, and BOSCH, WeRide is committed to providing innovative solutions for autonomous taxis, minibuses, freight vehicles, sanitation vehicles, and advanced intelligent driving.

The WeRide Robobus has already made its mark in Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuxi, and other cities around the world. Now, with its presence at CES 2024, visitors have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the future of autonomous transportation.
