Intel Unveils Enhanced Processor Lineup and Game Support with Latest Driver Update

Intel recently showcased its latest 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S refresh lineup at CES 2024, featuring locked non-K models that offer comparable performance to the unlocked K models while maintaining a lower power consumption. The new lineup includes the Core i9-14900 and i7-14700, among others.

In addition to the desktop processors, Intel also released the 14th Gen HX SKUs and Core Series 1 U SKUs for mobile devices. Intel claims that its flagship HX part outperforms AMD’s Ryzen 9 7945X3D in most cases.

To support these new processors, Intel has rolled out a Windows WHQL driver update, versions 31.0.101.5085 and 31.0.101.5122. The update brings enhanced compatibility and optimizations for gaming, with a focus on the highly anticipated game, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

The driver update also includes support for Intel® Arc™ A-series Graphics, specifically tailored for gaming performance. It is designed to deliver an immersive gaming experience and optimal graphics performance for Intel’s new lineup of processors.

However, there are some known issues that users may encounter. For Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics, Alan Wake 2 may exhibit white corruption on reflective surfaces when Transparency is set to Off. A workaround is to set Transparency to Low or High. Dead by Daylight may experience application crashes during gameplay, and Topaz Video AI may encounter errors with certain video enhancement models. Additionally, Intel® Smooth Sync may not function as expected with certain DX11 games.

Intel® Core™ Ultra with Intel® Arc™ Graphics Products may encounter issues such as terrain corruption in Diablo 4, application crashes in Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and application crashes in The Talos Principle 2 with certain Upscaling Presets. Other potential issues include application crashes in Autodesk Maya while running SPECAPC benchmark and Blender crashes while rendering certain scenes on specific system memory configurations. Topaz Video AI may also experience errors with certain models for video enhancement.

Intel® Iris™ X e MAX Graphics Products may have difficulties with driver installation on certain notebook systems with both Intel® Iris™ Xe + Iris™ Xe MAX devices, requiring a system reboot and reinstallation of the graphics driver for successful installation. Additionally, Dragon Quest X Online may experience sporadic application crashes during gameplay on Intel® Core™ Processor (12th -14th Generation) Products.

Users can download the latest Intel driver, versions 31.0.101.5085 and 31.0.101.5122, from Intel’s official website. The driver is compatible with Windows 10 20H2 (October 2020 update) and newer, supporting Intel 11th Gen and newer processors, as well as the DG1 (Iris Xe Max) discrete GPUs.

In conclusion, Intel’s latest processor lineup and driver update offer improved performance, power efficiency, and game support. Users can benefit from the enhanced gaming experience and optimizations provided by the driver update when paired with Intel’s 14th Gen processors.
