New Benchmark Results Hint at Exciting Developments for Intel’s Next-Gen CPUs

New benchmark results have recently surfaced, hinting at what could be in store for Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake desktop and Lunar Lake laptop CPUs. While the tests focused solely on the integrated graphics of these CPUs, they provide some insight into their potential capabilities.

Starting with Arrow Lake, this particular CPU (Arrow Lake-S model) appears to be making its first appearance in these leaked benchmarks. However, since only the integrated GPU was tested, details about the CPU cores remain elusive. SiSoftware Sandra does reveal that the iGPU features 64 execution units, referring to its eight Xe cores. This suggests that Arrow Lake might not boast the highest-end GPU tile seen in Meteor Lake-H CPUs, but possibly a smaller version akin to the one found in Meteor Lake-U processors. Alternatively, there is speculation that Arrow Lake could introduce an updated version of Meteor Lake-U’s iGPU, potentially featuring XMX cores.

Notably, the benchmark also sheds light on the testing platform used. The CPU was assessed using an EVCRB motherboard designed for unreleased Meteor Lake-S desktop CPUs. With the cancellation of Meteor Lake-S in favor of Raptor Lake, Arrow Lake is expected to be the first processor to utilize the LGA 1851 socket, assuming no further changes occur.

Turning to Lunar Lake, the benchmark reveals a similar integrated GPU configuration with eight Xe cores. However, there is strong speculation that this iGPU is based on the second-generation Arc Battlemage architecture. The chip is reported to feature eight CPU cores, which is slightly fewer than its predecessor, Meteor Lake-U, which had 10 cores.

Both Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake are set to launch later this year, which explains the timing of these benchmark leaks. While these results provide limited information, it is anticipated that more comprehensive and informative data will be available soon. As we eagerly await further details, it’s clear that Intel’s next-gen CPUs hold great promise for desktop and laptop users alike.
