XMG Unveils Gaming Laptop Prototype with Integrated GPU, Showcases Intel’s “Meteor Lake” Processor

XMG made waves at CES 2024 with the introduction of their prototype gaming laptop featuring Intel’s latest Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” processor. What sets this laptop apart is that it doesn’t rely on a discrete GPU like other XMG gaming laptops. Instead, it utilizes the built-in Arc-based GPU on the Meteor Lake CPU for gaming purposes.

Although the exact specifications of the prototype are not yet known, it boasts a 15.3-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge keyboard complete with a number pad. In terms of connectivity, users can expect two USB Type-A ports, a single USB4 port, HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz output, and an ethernet port.

While the specific Intel Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” processor housed inside the laptop remains undisclosed, we do know that it will have a 45W+ TDP. The absence of a discrete GPU means that XMG will rely on the Intel Arc Xe-LPG GPU embedded within the Meteor Lake processor. While it may not achieve the same performance as 4K 120FPS, the Intel Arc Xe-LPG GPU Tile should comfortably handle 1080p gaming at either 60FPS or 120FPS.

In addition to gaming capabilities, the new XMG gaming laptop will benefit from Intel’s Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” processor’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU), enhancing AI tasks. The laptop also supports dual-channel DDR5 memory and boasts a cooling solution featuring a dual-fan and dual heat pipe design.

With an 80Wh battery and a weight of just 1.5kg, this prototype promises to be an impressive and potentially more affordable gaming laptop option. XMG plans to release more details throughout the year, with the 15.3-inch gaming laptop set for availability in the first half of 2024.
