What sets Deloitte’s AI chatbot apart is that it was developed internally by the firm’s AI institute, unlike other professional services firms that have partnered with external market players. For instance, Big Four rival PwC utilizes AI chatbots to accelerate the work of its legal and tax divisions, while law firm Allen & Overy has developed an AI contract negotiation tool.

Costi Perricos, generative AI leader at Deloitte, emphasized the importance of using these new AI tools safely to maximize their value. To ensure responsible usage, Deloitte employees are required to complete a training module before accessing PairD. Additionally, Deloitte has committed to providing UK disability charity Scope with free access to the chatbot, underlining its commitment to social responsibility.

The implementation of AI technology by professional service firms aligns with their efforts to reduce costs amid a challenging economic environment and a slowdown in demand for certain business services.
