Nvidia Launches Highly Anticipated RTX 40-Series Refresh with Three Powerful Graphics Cards

Nvidia has officially unveiled its highly anticipated RTX 40-series refresh, introducing three new graphics cards that have the potential to excite PC enthusiasts. The RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super all belong to the RTX 40-series, but each card offers notable changes in specs and features, creating an interesting comparison between them.

In terms of pricing and availability, Nvidia announced the release of these new GPUs during its CES 2024 keynote on January 8. While there were already rumors circulating about the RTX 40-series refresh, Nvidia managed to keep the final release dates and prices mostly under wraps until the official announcement. The RTX 4070 is set to hit stores first on January 17, followed by the RTX 4070 Ti Super on January 24, and finally the RTX 4080 Super on January 31.

One significant change in this iteration is a decrease in price for the RTX 4080 Super. Nvidia recognized that the previous generation RTX 4080 was not a great value, and as a result, the recommended retail price for the new RTX 4080 Super has been lowered from $1,200 to $1,000. In contrast, the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super maintain the same price tags as their non-Super predecessors, at $800 and $600 respectively.

Moving on to the specifications, all three GPUs offer improvements over their predecessors. The RTX 4080 Super has a modest increase in CUDA cores and maximum clock speed, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super boasts more CUDA cores, increased memory, and a wider memory bus. The RTX 4070 Super receives a significant upgrade in CUDA cores, bringing it closer in performance to the RTX 4070 Ti.

Although it is too early to definitively assess the performance of these new graphics cards, initial estimates based on benchmarks and Nvidia’s own claims suggest that the RTX 4080 Super will provide a slight performance boost compared to the RTX 4080, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super may deliver performance similar to the RTX 4080. Gamers on a tighter budget may find the RTX 4070 Ti Super to be a reasonable alternative, offering a good balance between price and performance.

As with any new release, these estimates will need to be confirmed through real-world testing. Once the cards are available on the market and comprehensive reviews are conducted, gamers will have a clearer understanding of the performance that the RTX 40-series refresh brings to the table.
