Nvidia Unveils New Streaming Features and Twitch Integrations

Nvidia’s latest announcement at CES 2024 brings exciting news for streamers using Twitch and Nvidia GPUs. The company revealed a range of streaming features and Twitch integrations to enhance the streaming experience and offer greater flexibility.

One significant change is the introduction of the Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting beta, set to launch later this month. Currently, Twitch prioritizes server-side transcoding for top-performing channels, leaving regular users with limited transcoding options. However, the Enhanced Broadcasting update will transform the streaming capabilities for Nvidia GPU users. RTX and GTX card owners will now be able to utilize the high-quality NVENC hardware encoder to simultaneously broadcast up to three resolutions at up to 1080p. In the coming months, options for higher-input bitrates, 4k resolutions, and up to five concurrent streams will become available.

To enhance the encoding options, Nvidia is introducing new codecs. Owners of RTX 40-series cards will have access to the latest-generation AV1 codec, while those with older cards can utilize H.264 and HEVC codecs.

Stream setup and configuration will also be simplified with the OBS integration included in the beta. Nvidia promises that the enhanced broadcasting features will automatically configure OBS encoder settings using a server-side algorithm. This algorithm aims to deliver the best possible configuration for OBS studio based on the streamer’s setup. While the effectiveness of this algorithm remains to be seen, it is a promising step towards easing the process of streaming and recording high-resolution game capture.

To take advantage of these new features, interested users will need to sign up for the beta on Twitch. However, enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so quick action will be necessary.
