AMD Unveils New Radeon RX 7600 XT Graphics Card with 16GB VRAM

AMD has surprised gamers and tech enthusiasts at CES by revealing the all-new Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card. Priced at just $329, this new addition to the RDNA 3 lineup provides a significant upgrade in terms of memory capacity and clock speed.

Unlike the previous Radeon RX 7600, which was lauded for its affordability, the RX 7600 XT bridges the gap between its predecessor and the higher-priced RX 7700 XT. While it may not offer many new features, the XT version sports a faster clock speed and a remarkable 16GB of VRAM.

Both the RX 7600 and RX 7600 XT are powered by the same Navi 33 chip, boasting 32 compute units and 2,048 stream processors. The difference lies in the clock speed, with the RX 7600 XT delivering a game clock of 2.47GHz and a max boost clock of 2.76GHz. This clock speed increase translates to a higher total board power of 190W compared to the RX 7600’s 165W.

The VRAM in the RX 7600 XT is doubled to 16GB, providing ample headroom for graphics-intensive gaming. Games running at 1080p with maxed-out settings may strain 8GB cards, but the increased VRAM of the 7600 XT ensures smoother gameplay. The GDDR6 memory operates at a clock speed of 2,250MHz, offering a memory bandwidth of 288GB/s.

With a $60 premium for an extra 8GB of VRAM and improved clock speed, the RX 7600 XT offers better value compared to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, which charges $100 for the same increase in VRAM alone.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT is set to release on January 24, 2024. Interested buyers can expect a variety of options from board partners such as Acer, ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX.
