New AMD GPU Delivers Impressive Performance at 1440p Gaming

AMD has announced its latest GPU, the Radeon RX 7600 XT, which is designed to excel in 1080p gaming while also offering comfortable performance at 1440p. With a price tag of $329, this GPU aims to provide a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor, the Radeon RX 7600.

One of the key improvements of the Radeon RX 7600 XT is its increased memory capacity. While the RX 7600 had only 8GB of memory, AMD has doubled that to 16GB for the RX 7600 XT. According to the company, this upgrade allows the card to be “ready to take on 1440p” gaming, a surprising choice for a GPU in this price range.

However, despite the increase in memory, the RX 7600 XT retains the same compute units, stream processors, and memory bus as its predecessor. AMD has instead focused on improving the base and boost clock speeds, as well as increasing the total board power to 190 watts.

AMD claims that these changes should allow the RX 7600 XT to achieve 60fps and above at 1440p in popular games such as Starfield, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Forza Horizon 5. However, based on AMD’s own data, it is clear that this GPU is still primarily aimed at the 1080p gaming market, with the ability to handle 1440p in specific games.

In addition to the RX 7600 XT, AMD has also provided a comparison between its RX 6700 XT and Nvidia’s $299 RTX 4060. The data shared by AMD suggests that the RX 6700 XT performs competitively against the RTX 4060 at both 1080p and 1440p. However, more comprehensive reviews are needed to determine the exact performance gap between the two.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT will be available from January 24th through various board partners, including Acer, ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX. Gaming enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting its release to see if it lives up to the promises of delivering impressive performance at the increasingly popular 1440p gaming resolution.
