Hewlett Packard Unveils New Spectre x360 and Omen Transcend Laptops

Hewlett Packard (HP) has recently announced the launch of its latest line of laptops, the Spectre x360 and Omen Transcend. These new models come with the powerful Intel Meteor Lake processors and boast impressive AI capabilities. However, unlike other vendors, HP has chosen to use locally-run AI tools instead of cloud-based solutions for privacy and power efficiency.

The Spectre x360 laptops are designed for general use and come in two sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch. The 14-inch model is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 processor, while the larger 16-inch laptop only comes with the more powerful CPU. Both models offer excellent gaming performance with integrated graphics on the 14-inch version and a GeForce RTX 4050 on the 16-inch model. The laptops are equipped with AI features such as constant adjustment of the webcam output for better quality and the ability to wake up the PC without any physical contact.

In terms of AI assistance, HP has chosen to use Superpower and Otter AI instead of Windows Copilot. These tools run locally on the Intel Core Ultra CPU and/or GeForce RTX GPU, providing better privacy and power efficiency. HP has also incorporated additional sensors into the laptops to enhance AI capabilities, including thermal, velocity, and acceleration sensors.

The Omen Transcend gaming laptop, which also features the Intel Meteor Lake processor, stands out for its portability with a full aluminum body and a weight of just 1637g (3.6 pounds). It offers two CPU options, the Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9, and a choice of GeForce RTX graphics cards. The Omen Transcend also incorporates AI features to optimize gaming performance and comes with a lattice-less RGB keyboard and a built-in 2.4GHz dongle for instant pairing with a HyperX Cloud III wireless headset.

While the new HP laptops offer impressive features and AI capabilities, they come at a higher price point. The Spectre x360 14-inch model starts at $1,499.99, while the Omen Transcend 14-inch model starts at the same price. Despite the cost, these laptops are expected to provide an enhanced gaming experience and improved overall performance.
