Acer has revealed its latest innovation at this year’s CES 2024: the Aspire 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition. While the concept of glasses-free 3D laptops was first introduced at CES 2023, Acer is keeping the dream alive with its new offering, which caters specifically to content creators.
Designing for 3D content creation, Acer has taken into account the evolving needs of creators who require powerful machines for editing and rendering. The Aspire 3D 15 features a 15.6-inch screen that utilizes stereoscopic 3D technology to deliver an immersive 3D experience. Although the screen can display up to 4K resolution, it operates at a lower resolution in 3D mode.
During a private preview, the 3D effect on the laptop was found to be easy to perceive, even when viewing the screen from different angles. The SpatialLabs technology integrated into the device enhances the 3D experience, allowing creators to work with real-time 3D images and edit on the fly. Additionally, the laptop supports 3D content creation in compatible applications such as Unity, Unreal Engine plug-ins, and SpatialLabs.
The Aspire 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition includes the SpatialLabs Experience Center Pro, which offers a range of applications and add-ons for creators. The SpatialLabs Model Viewer, for example, enables the import and conversion of CGI and CAD files into 3D illustrations. Moreover, the SpatialLabs Go app can transform 2D images, home movies, photos, and even YouTube videos into 3D images in real time using Acer’s proprietary AI models.
In terms of hardware, Acer has equipped the Aspire 3D 15 with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13620H processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. While it may not be as powerful as high-end gaming laptops or workstations, this combination provides sufficient processing power for 3D content creation. The laptop also boasts up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of SSD storage.
