KT Showcases AICT Future at World IT Show 2024

KT has set the stage at the World IT Show 2024, hosted from the 17th through the 19th at Seoul’s COEX. Living up to its new narrative as the pioneering ‘AICT (Artificial Intelligence + Information and Communication Technology) company,’ KT dedicated its exhibition space to demonstrating how their innovative technology seamlessly integrates into educational settings, workplaces, and other facets of daily life.

At the entrance of their exhibition booth, a special zone unveiled several AI-driven advancements. This included a platform that offers chatbot services based on Large Language Models (LLM), an AI-generated image creation tool called AI Creator, and an AI mapping search service known as GIS AI Search – all showcasing KT’s strength in AI transformation (AX).

Themed zones around ‘AICT in everyday life’ allowed visitors to immerse themselves in diverse experiences. Within the school-focused zone, attendees encountered the ‘Langtalk AI Call Report’ – a tool that analyzes and summarizes conversations between teachers and parents using LLM and an AI-powered service that detects and blocks spam texts.

In the daily life theme zone, KT presented its proprietary cloud streaming solution, which enables users to access 3D content on low-specification devices, demonstrating their ‘3D Cloud Streaming Service’ and also showcased a GPU-based DaaS technology that utilizes dedicated cloud servers to reduce user costs.

Combining expertise in AI with years of call center operations, the company revealed its evolved AI Contact Center (AICC) technology. This included the self-subscribing and manageable ‘KT Aicen Cloud Service’ and sector-specific bot experiences using their ‘Smart AI Voicebot.’

Moving to the transport theme zone, KT shed light on future network innovation technologies. Highlighted were Urban Air Mobility (UAM) specialized network technologies, GSMA open gateway service technology, and both wired and wireless quantum cryptography called ‘Quantum Security.’

KT’s Public Relations Head remarked on the effort to let visitors experience their next-generation AICT solutions in a daily context and affirmed KT’s commitment to delivering value through both wired and wireless communication and cutting-edge AX technologies.

Advantages of AICT (Artificial Intelligence + Information and Communication Technology) Integration:
1. Enhanced efficiency: AICT can automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and productivity in educational settings and workplaces.
2. Improved accessibility: Tools like KT’s 3D Cloud Streaming Service enable access to high-quality content on devices that otherwise might not support such data-heavy applications.
3. Advanced security: The incorporation of technologies like quantum cryptography ensures a higher level of data security, protecting against emerging cyber threats.
4. Cost reduction: GPU-based DaaS and other cloud solutions can significantly reduce costs related to hardware and IT infrastructure for businesses and individuals.
5. Personalized experiences: AI-driven services can offer personalized recommendations and support, tailoring user experiences to individual needs.

Challenges and Controversies Associated with AICT:
1. Privacy concerns: The use of AI and data collection technologies raises questions about user privacy and data protection.
2. Digital divide: While AICT can provide many benefits, there’s a risk of widening the gap between those who have access to such technologies and those who do not.
3. Dependence on technology: Increased reliance on AI and IT solutions could lead to vulnerabilities in critical systems if there are outages or cyber-attacks.
4. Employment impact: Automation and AI might lead to job displacement in certain sectors.
5. Ethical and governance issues: The deployment of AI requires careful consideration of ethical implications and clear governance to prevent misuse.
