University College Dublin (UCD) has unveiled an exciting new AI accelerator program aimed at supporting start-ups in the development of innovative AI products. In partnership with CeADAR, Ireland’s leading research center for applied AI, the AI Ecosystem Accelerator will offer entrepreneurs access to expert mentors, valuable advice, and funding opportunities over a six-month period.
The primary objective of this accelerator program is to provide assistance to entrepreneurs who are working on disruptive AI ideas with global market potential. The program aims to foster innovation in sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, education, sustainability, finance, content creation, supply chain, and customer service.
Funding for the accelerator program is being provided through the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) framework, a Europe-wide initiative that has received a total funding of €700m from the European Commission and member state governments.
Participants in the program will benefit from a range of supports, including dedicated commercial mentors and workshops that cover essential topics such as value proposition, route to market, sales strategies, and securing investment. They will also have access to co-working space at NovaUCD, as well as the extensive network of founders, investors, business partners, and student interns associated with NovaUCD. CeADAR’s EDIH services, which include AI technologies and research support, will also be available to successful applicants.
One of the key advantages of this accelerator program is the access it provides to various funding opportunities. Participants will have the chance to connect with venture capital firms, angel investors, and other potential sources of investment. This financial support is invaluable for start-ups looking to scale their AI products and bring them to market successfully.
Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary commended the initiative, emphasizing the talents, creativity, and drive of Ireland’s entrepreneurs. He expressed his ambition for Ireland to become a leader in using AI for the benefit of its citizens and encouraged AI start-ups to apply and become part of Ireland’s AI ambitions.
Applications for the AI Ecosystem Accelerator can be submitted on the UCD website until February 16, 2024. This presents a fantastic opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in the AI space to receive the necessary support and guidance to accelerate their journey toward success.
