Rigetti Computing Partners with Industry Leaders for Quantum Machine Learning in Finance

Rigetti UK Limited, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Imperial College London, and Standard Chartered, has received a grant from Innovate UK. The consortium aims to develop innovative quantum machine learning techniques that will revolutionize the way financial institutions process and analyze complex data streams. By combining Rigetti’s quantum computing capabilities, AWS’s classical high-performance computing resources, Imperial College London’s expertise in classical machine learning models, and Standard Chartered’s extensive datasets, the partnership hopes to overcome the limitations of traditional machine learning methods in tasks such as credit risk evaluation and market-making services.

The primary focus of the project, which commenced on January 1, 2024, is to advance quantum signature kernels and compare their performance against classical methods. The consortium also aims to build efficient quantum algorithms for computing signatures and signature kernels for extensive and high-dimensional data streams.

This collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on the financial industry, providing enhanced data processing and interpretation capabilities. The combination of quantum computing and classical machine learning expertise will enable financial institutions to gain deeper insights into vast amounts of intricate financial data, leading to improved risk assessment and more accurate market predictions.

The project is scheduled to run for 18 months, providing ample time for rigorous research, development, and testing. Ultimately, it is anticipated that the outcomes of this initiative will contribute to advancing the field of quantum machine learning, opening up new possibilities for the financial sector and beyond.
