New NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090D GPU Offers Comparable Performance to Standard RTX 4090

A China-exclusive version of NVIDIA’s flagship graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090D, has been released, and it delivers performance that is on par with the standard RTX 4090. This new GPU was designed to comply with US policies, as the original RTX 4090 was restricted due to its processing performance exceeding the mandated limit. To create the RTX 4090D, NVIDIA had to cut back on the specifications of the GPU while still offering a high-quality chip to the Chinese market.

The GALAX GeForce RTX 4090D Metal Master graphics card, based on the new AD102-250 GPU silicon, features 14,592 cores, 456 tensor cores, and 114 RT cores. It has a base clock of 2280 MHz and a boost clock of 2520 MHz, with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory running at 21 Gbps. The GPU has a TGP of 425W, slightly lower than the standard RTX 4090, and is powered by a 16-pin 12V-2×6 plug.

Despite being a cut-down version, the RTX 4090D offers similar gaming performance to the standard RTX 4090, with only a small difference in benchmark results. In gaming tests at 4K resolution, the RTX 4090D was found to be around 5.8% slower than the standard RTX 4090. In AI and productivity benchmarks, the difference was around 6%. These results show that despite the reduction in cores, the RTX 4090D is still a powerful gaming GPU.

One advantage of the RTX 4090D is its price. It is being sold in China for the same price as the standard RTX 4090, making it a viable option for gamers looking for high-performance graphics cards. Additionally, the RTX 4090D runs cool, with temperatures hardly exceeding 70C for the GPU and 76C for the hotspot.

In conclusion, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090D offers comparable performance to the standard RTX 4090 while being priced the same in China. This GPU delivers impressive gaming performance and is a solid choice for gamers in the Chinese market.
