Infosys Expands its Capabilities with Acquisition of InSemi

Tech giant Infosys is set to acquire Bengaluru-based semiconductor and embedded systems design provider InSemi for Rs 280 crore. The acquisition will allow Infosys to further enhance its offerings in the engineering R&D services sector and strengthen its position in the semiconductor ecosystem.

InSemi, founded in 2013, boasts a team of over 900 employees and provides end-to-end semiconductor design services. It specializes in electronic design, platform design, automation, and embedded and software technologies. Its clients span various industries including semiconductor, consumer electronics, automotive, and hi-tech.

The collaboration between Infosys and InSemi will enable Infosys to accelerate its Chip-to-Cloud strategy by incorporating niche design skills at scale. It will also complement Infosys’ existing investments in AI/Automation platforms and industry partnerships, facilitating comprehensive end-to-end product development for clients.

The acquisition is set to be completed by the fourth quarter of FY2024, with Infosys demonstrating its commitment to expanding its capabilities in the semiconductor and engineering R&D services sectors.

Both companies are excited about the synergies this acquisition will bring. Shreekanth Sampigethaya & Arup Dash, Co-Founders of InSemi, believe that with Infosys as their catalyst, they will be able to scale their operations and harness the power of AI and next-generation technologies to better serve global clients across different industries.

This strategic move by Infosys comes at a time when the demand for next-generation semiconductor design services is on the rise due to the growth of AI, smart devices, 5G, and electric vehicles. By acquiring InSemi, Infosys aims to solidify its position as a leader in the engineering R&D space and cater to the evolving needs of its clients.
