Significant Pacts Made on Day 2 of Vibrant Gujarat Summit

Multiple significant agreements were made on the second day of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, including several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the semiconductor sector. One such agreement involved South Korean firm Simmtech, which pledged an investment of Rs 1,250 crore in Gujarat for printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. Additionally, two business-to-business collaborations were established, with notable companies like ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, Micron Technology, and Cisco involved.

Furthermore, several MoUs were signed in the port sector, particularly with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB). Agreements were reached with the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard for the development of jetties and infrastructure, with proposed investments of Rs 800 crore and Rs 174 crore, respectively. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) also signed an MoU with the Gujarat Knowledge Society, focusing on creating a semiconductor design ecosystem and talent development for space and commercial technology.

Moreover, the Deendayal Port Authority at Kandla in Gujarat and Umeandus Technologies agreed to an investment proposal of Rs 10,000 crore for the development of port infrastructure. Jio Energy and the Gujarat government entered into a Rs 17,200-crore agreement in the field of renewable energy. The GMB also signed an MoU with Leela Ship Recycling Pvt Ltd, which has plans for expansion with an investment proposal of Rs 300 crore.

In addition, various agreements in digital commerce, food processing, and skill development were made. Simmtech will establish its unit in Sanand, Ahmedabad. Eight MoUs were signed for skilling the workforce for Industry 4.0, and 14 agreements were made with Kaushalya Skill University to prepare the workforce for the future industry. The Gujarat Maritime University and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd also agreed to set up a port-related center of excellence in the state.

The Vibrant Gujarat Summit also featured country and state seminars, organizational seminars, and thematic conferences. These agreements strengthen Gujarat’s ambition to become a hub for semiconductor manufacturing through its semiconductor policy.
