A shocking incident has come to light in Bengaluru, India, where the CEO of an artificial intelligence startup has been arrested on suspicion of killing her 4-year-old son. The body of the child was discovered in her luggage as she returned from a trip. Suchana Seth, the CEO of The Mindful AI Lab, was taken into custody by the police in Karnataka on Monday.
While the motive for the alleged murder remains unclear, authorities have revealed that Seth mentioned having a strained relationship with her husband, from whom she is currently separated. During interrogation, she referred to the ongoing divorce proceedings and expressed her unhappiness. However, the validity of these claims is yet to be verified.
The chain of events leading up to the arrest began when Seth checked into a serviced apartment in Goa with her son. Two days later, she checked out and requested a taxi for her journey back to Bengaluru. Despite suggestions from hotel staff to consider a flight instead, Seth insisted on using a taxi.
However, it was during the hotel staff’s clean-up after her departure that they made a horrifying discovery – bloodstains on the apartment floor. As a result, they immediately contacted the local police, who then sought out and stopped the taxi arranged by Seth. It was at the nearest police station where the lifeless body of her son was found.
A full post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Dr. Kumar Naik, an administrative officer at the hospital where the autopsy was performed, shared that the child may have been smothered to death using a cloth or pillow. Meanwhile, Seth’s husband, who was in Indonesia at the time, has been asked to return to Goa for questioning.
