QuEra Unveils Roadmap for Error-Corrected Quantum Computers

QuEra, a quantum computing company, has announced its ambitious roadmap for the development of error-corrected quantum computers. This roadmap outlines the company’s plan to release a series of quantum computer models over the next few years, culminating in a system with 100 logical error-corrected qubits.

The first phase of the roadmap, slated for 2024, includes the launch of a quantum computer with 10 logical qubits and transversal gate capability. Transversal gates are a vital component of quantum computing as they prevent error propagation across qubits, making them inherently error-resistant. This initial system will serve as the foundation for error-corrected quantum computing. To aid in algorithm assessment and preparation for the era of error correction, QuEra will also release a logical qubit simulator in the first half of 2024.

In the following year, QuEra plans to release an enhanced model with 30 logical error-corrected qubits. This model will incorporate magic state distillation, allowing for the execution of non-Clifford gates, which are crucial for universal quantum computations. This model will be supported by over 3,000 physical qubits.

The final phase of QuEra’s roadmap, scheduled for 2026, will introduce a third-generation quantum error-corrected model with 100 logical qubits and over 10,000 physical qubits. This advanced development will push quantum computing beyond the limits of classical simulation, ushering in a new era of discovery and innovation.

Quantum error correction is a crucial technique for ensuring the reliability and scalability of quantum computers. By implementing error correction protocols, quantum systems can maintain the integrity of quantum information over longer periods, enabling them to perform complex calculations that are beyond the reach of classical computers.

QuEra’s announcement signifies a significant milestone in the field of quantum computing. By providing the first commercial error-corrected system, QuEra is setting a new standard in performance and usability. The company envisions a future where logical error-corrected qubits take precedence, ushering in true quantum computing value.

QuEra invites developers to adapt their software to these groundbreaking capabilities and encourages enterprises to explore error-corrected algorithms with logical qubits through collaboration. They also urge HPC centers and national programs to consider purchasing and deploying these advanced computers on-premises.

With this roadmap, QuEra is opening doors to a new world of computational possibilities, driving innovation across various sectors and paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in fields such as materials science, drug discovery, and optimization problems.
