OpenAI Launches GPT Store, Facilitating Custom Chatbot Sharing

OpenAI has finally launched its much-anticipated GPT Store, a platform that enables users to share their custom chatbots. This development comes after several delays in the launch, with OpenAI originally planning to open the store in November but pushing it to December and finally to January. The GPT Store offers new possibilities for ChatGPT and expands OpenAI’s ecosystem beyond its own offerings.

Since introducing the GPT Builder program in November, OpenAI has seen over 3 million bots, known as GPTs, created by users. Taking this into account, the company intends to showcase useful GPTs on a weekly basis within the store. However, at present, only users who subscribe to OpenAI’s paid tiers are able to create and use custom GPTs.

In addition to the store launch, OpenAI unveiled plans to implement a revenue sharing program for GPT creators in the first quarter of the year. Although the company has not provided specific details, GPT builders will be compensated based on user engagement with their chatbots.

OpenAI has also taken steps to ensure that custom GPTs on the platform adhere to its brand guidelines and usage policies. They have established a new review system and updated the process for reporting harmful or unsafe GPTs.

The GPT Store is available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, as well as subscribers to the newly introduced ChatGPT Team tier. This paid version of ChatGPT is designed for smaller teams and offers access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3, and OpenAI’s Advanced Data Analysis feature. Subscribers can create custom GPTs for their team’s specific requirements or utilize other GPTs available in the store.

To access ChatGPT Team, users can choose a priced plan of $25 per user per month for annual billing or $30 per user per month for monthly billing. It marks OpenAI’s continuous efforts to provide efficient and tailored chatbot solutions to meet varying user needs.
