Intel Unveils Next-Generation Processor Series at CES

Intel made a significant splash at CES with the launch of its 14th-gen HX series, a lineup of overclockable processors that will power flagship gaming laptops and creator-focused laptops in 2023. The new series, which builds upon the previously announced Core Ultra H series, promises to deliver improved performance and power efficiency.

In addition to the HX series, Intel introduced its mainstream 14th-gen midpower desktop processors. These processors, targeted at all-in-one systems and computers priced below $2,000, follow the high-end overclockable K-series CPUs that were unveiled last October.

Intel also revealed its low-power 14th-gen Core mobile U-series processors, designed for ultrathin laptops. These processors are a step down from the higher-end Core Ultra U chips announced in December.

One standout feature of the HX series is its support for Thunderbolt 5, offering triple the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4. This will allow for more powerful docks and up to three displays.

The new HX series CPUs also incorporate Application Optimization support, which dynamically allocates power and processor resources to improve performance. They also offer support for up to 192GB of memory.

Additionally, Intel’s 14th-gen processors provide “discrete support” for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, allowing manufacturers to add custom communications chipsets without affecting system performance.

The Core HX series ranges from 10 cores for the i5-14450HX to 24 cores for the i9-14900HX. The Core U series includes the Core 7 150U, Core 5 120U, and Core 3 100U models.

Overall, Intel’s 14th-gen processors offer significant improvements in core count and frequency compared to their predecessors, ensuring a boost in performance for a variety of computing needs.

As the industry eagerly awaits the release of laptops and desktops equipped with Intel’s latest processors, it is clear that Intel is determined to maintain its position as a leader in the chip market.
