Rajan stated that the Government of India had sponsored two Quantum Computing Centres, with one having already been allocated to the North East. He expressed his hopes of Tamil Nadu being the recipient of the second centre due to it being the “natural logical choice,” but acknowledged that the outcome was uncertain.
In addition to engaging with the central government, the Tamil Nadu government is exploring collaboration with Finland, a country known for its advancements in building quantum computers. Rajan announced ongoing discussions with Finland to procure a quantum computer for the state, with an aim to create a space that fosters the growth of startups.
The state IT minister emphasized that Tamil Nadu’s focus in the AI and Deep Tech sectors lies in transforming the government’s functioning and interaction with citizens.
