Taiwan is making significant strides in the field of quantum computing, with a goal to produce the nation’s first domestically developed quantum computer by 2027. Security concerns associated with quantum computing, including the potential for digital encryption methods to be cracked, are also being addressed. Taiwan is actively developing quantum cryptography as a countermeasure, with technologies like quantum key distribution being explored to safeguard against vulnerabilities.
Academia Sinica, at the forefront of Taiwan’s quantum research, is set to trial its newly developed 5-qubit chips. The institute aims to increase chipset yield rates for mass production, recognizing the challenges that lie ahead.
By setting ambitious goals and investing in research and development, Taiwan is positioning itself as a key player in the emerging field of quantum computing. With its determination and strategic collaborations, the nation is on track to lead the way in this revolutionary technology by 2027.
