Nvidia Unveils GeForce RTX 40 Super Series at CES 2024

Nvidia made a splash at CES 2024 with the introduction of its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 40 Super series of desktop graphics cards. While primarily targeting gamers, the company is positioning these cards as formidable AI powerhouses as well.

The lineup consists of the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super, all offering significant performance upgrades over previous generation GPUs. The RTX 4080 Super, starting at $999, boasts a 1.4x speed improvement over the RTX 3080 Ti, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super is 1.6x faster than the RTX 3070 Ti.

What sets these cards apart is the inclusion of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology. When combined with DLSS, the RTX 4080 Super doubles the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti, and the RTX 4070 Ti Super achieves 2.5x faster speeds than the RTX 3070 Ti. Even the RTX 4070 Super sees a substantial boost, delivering 1.5x better performance than the RTX 3090.

While these cards are undoubtedly exciting for gamers, Nvidia is also capitalizing on the growing demand for AI PCs. Partnering with AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm, Nvidia aims to bring AI capabilities to consumer and enterprise laptops and desktops. AI PCs allow users to utilize generative AI applications directly on their devices, eliminating the need for cloud-dependent processing and protecting user privacy.

Microsoft has even embraced the AI PC concept by introducing dedicated Copilot AI assistant keys on Windows keyboards. With a simple button press, users can access the Windows Copilot assistant, expanding the functionality and accessibility of AI features.

Nvidia’s commitment to AI has seen remarkable success, with the company’s stock surging by 244% over the past year. While its data center business remains a significant revenue driver, the gaming segment also contributes significantly. In the latest quarterly report, Nvidia’s gaming segment generated $2.86 billion in revenue, while the data center segment accounted for $14.51 billion.

As the AI revolution continues to reshape the technology landscape, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 40 Super series showcases the company’s determination to stay at the forefront of innovation, catering to both gamers and AI enthusiasts alike.
