AAEON Launches Revolutionary EPIC-RPS9 Embedded Board

AAEON, a renowned player in the field of embedded computing, has recently unveiled its groundbreaking EPIC-RPS9 board. This latest addition to the 4″ EPIC Board family is a game-changer in the world of small form factor Single Board Computers (SBCs). Notably, EPIC-RPS9 is the smallest SBC that supports up to 65W socket-type CPUs from Intel’s 13th Generation Core Processor platform.

The EPIC-RPS9 board boasts compatibility with a wide range of Intel Core CPUs, including i3, i5, i7, and i9 models from both the 12th and 13th Generation lineups. These CPUs, ranging from 35W to 65W, deliver powerful performance with up to 24 cores and 32 threads, as well as numerous cutting-edge Intel technologies. While the EPIC-RPS9 supports all CPUs from these generations, the differentiating factor lies in the board’s chipsets. Buyers can choose from models equipped with Intel R680E, Q670E, or H610E chipsets.

One of the standout features of the EPIC-RPS9 is its ability to offer up to 64GB of high-speed DDR5 memory through two dual-channel SODIMM slots. Additionally, the Intel R680E SKU supports ECC for enhanced reliability. This lightning-fast memory complements the board’s high-speed interfaces, such as four LAN ports (three of which operate at 2.5GbE). Ensuring real-time performance, the EPIC-RPS9’s Intel R680E SKU features Intel Time Coordinated Computing, making it ideal for time-sensitive task execution.

Catering to industrial applications, the EPIC-RPS9 comes equipped with two COM connectors for RS-232/422/485, an 8-bit GPIO, and SMBus. Furthermore, the board offers I2C functionality, which can be utilized when running Windows 10 instead of Ubuntu. Its industrial focus is further emphasized by the inclusion of a 6-pin DC power connector, providing ample power for optimum CPU performance with a 65W CPU.

Storage options for the EPIC-RPS9 encompass a 2.5″ HDD for SATA 6Gb/s, an M.2 2280 M-Key (PCIe 4.0 [x4]) for NVMe, and a PCIe 4.0 [x8] slot suitable for additional SSD storage with RAID support. The PCIe 4.0 [x8] slot is highly versatile and accommodates AI accelerator modules or graphic capture cards, enhancing the board’s processing capabilities. Additionally, expansion options include Wi-Fi and 4G/5G connectivity via M.2 3052 B-Key and M.2 2230 E-Key, respectively, along with an FPC connector (PCIe 3.0 [x2]).

While the EPIC-RPS9 primarily targets industrial applications, its comprehensive array of display interfaces should not be overlooked. These include HDMI 2.0, eDP 1.4, and VGA, supporting 4K at 60Hz and 1920 x 1080 display resolutions, respectively.
