AMD has revealed a slew of new hardware at CES 2023, showcasing its ability to continue offering competitive products based on existing architectures. While fans eagerly await the next-generation AM5 and RDNA 4, the company’s latest announcements include new desktop APUs with Zen 4, four new CPUs for the AM4 platform, and a Radeon RX 7600 XT GPU with an impressive 16GB of memory priced at just $329.
One of the standout products is the Radeon RX 7600 XT GPU, featuring 16GB of memory in the midrange segment, a rarity among current-generation GPUs. Its closest competitor in Nvidia’s lineup is the 16GB RTX 4060 Ti, priced at $499, with a 128-bit memory bus. The updated 7600 XT surpasses its predecessor, the Radeon RX 7600, which received mediocre reviews and offers just 8GB of memory. Both cards boast similar specifications, but the XT variant offers higher clocks and double the memory. AMD positions the XT version for 1440p gaming or 1080p with ray tracing, while the standard version is primarily targeted at 1080p gaming. Both RX 7600 GPUs face a potential bottleneck due to their 128-bit bus. The new GPU will be available on January 24th with AMD reference designs and partner boards.

The new V-Cache CPU will be released on January 31st, along with three other 5000-series AM4 CPUs aimed at budget-oriented gamers.
Lastly, AMD introduced its Zen 4 APUs for desktops. These budget-friendly CPUs come with integrated RDNA 3 graphics, alongside the Ryzen AI engine. The lineup includes four APUs offering eight, six, and four cores, depending on the model. The flagship 8700G chip retails for $329 and features eight Zen 4 cores and Radeon 780M graphics. The two six-core options, the 8600G and 8500G, deliver similar performance with varying graphics capabilities. The entry-level 8300G comes with four cores and Radeon 740M graphics.
AMD’s latest hardware offerings mark an important milestone for the company, potentially serving as the pinnacle of its Zen 4 architecture and RDNA 3 graphics platform. With no imminent next-generation hardware expected until September, these releases complete AMD’s lineup for the time being.
