AMD Unveils New Ryzen Processors and Graphics Cards at CES 2024

AMD has made a big splash at this year’s CES 2024 by introducing a range of new processors and graphics cards. The company debuted the Ryzen 7 8700G, a desktop processor that boasts the fastest integrated graphics accelerator on the market. Alongside the Ryzen 7 8700G, AMD also unveiled lower-end desktop processors with integrated graphics accelerators and a standalone graphics card with built-in algorithms for enhanced visual fidelity in video games.

One of the highlights of AMD’s announcement is the new Ryzen 8000G series, which includes four new APUs. The flagship chip in this series is the Ryzen 7 8700G, which combines an eight-core CPU with what AMD claims is the world’s most powerful integrated graphics accelerator. The CPU is based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, which offers improved cache size and efficiency compared to previous designs. The integrated graphics card is based on the RDNA3 GPU architecture, optimized for rendering lighting and shadow effects in games.

According to internal benchmark tests conducted by AMD, desktops powered by the Ryzen 7 8700G APU outperformed machines with standalone GPUs in certain workloads. The chipmaker compared the speed of the Ryzen 7 8700G with a computer powered by an Intel Core i5-13400F CPU and Nvidia’s GeForce 1650 graphics card, and found that its chip ran some tasks more than twice as fast as the Nvidia-powered desktop.

In addition to the Ryzen 8000G series, AMD also unveiled three new desktop processors based on its Zen 3 CPU architecture. The lineup includes the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an eight-core CPU with a 96-megabyte onboard cache. There are also two new APUs with eight CPU cores and seven GPU compute units, offering maximum clock rates of 4.4 and 4.6 gigahertz.

AMD also introduced the Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card, a standalone GPU that offers increased processing power compared to an APU’s integrated graphics. The card features 32 compute units, 16 gigabytes of memory, and several accelerators optimized for ray tracing. It also includes software features like Super Resolution, which enhances visual quality, and Liquid Boost, which generates additional frames to improve the user experience in games.

With these new processors and graphics cards, AMD is looking to further solidify its position in the market and offer consumers powerful and cost-effective options for their desktop computing and gaming needs.
