Home Minister Amit Shah has called for the integration of databases and the use of AI-driven analytical approaches to address emerging security challenges in India, as well as the need for uniformity in the structures, size, and skills of counter-terrorism mechanisms across the country. Speaking at the 58th conference of DGPs and IGPs in Jaipur, Shah emphasized the overall improvement in the country’s security scenario since 2014, particularly in key areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, the northeast, and areas affected by Left Wing Extremism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the conference after engaging in discussions with the top police officers in the country. Shah highlighted the significance of two recent decisions made by the government—the National Education Policy and the enactment of three criminal justice laws—which he believes will transform the country’s criminal justice system into a modern and scientific one.
In addition to addressing the importance of AI and uniformity, Home Minister Shah stressed the need for comprehensive training of police officers at all levels and the implementation of advanced technology to effectively enforce the new criminal justice laws. He also underscored the role of internal security in realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047.
