New Intel Core Processors Spotted on Upcoming Asus Vivobook, Changing Naming Scheme

A leak on the Asus website has revealed that Intel is set to release a range of new processors for their upcoming Vivobook 14 lineup. These processors, ranging from Intel Core 3 to Intel Core 7, are part of the ‘Intel Core’ (non-Ultra) variant, which has not received much attention compared to the Core Ultra processors introduced at Intel’s recent Innovation 2023 event.

The leaked CPUs and their specifications were also spotted on the upcoming Expertbook B5 series by Twitter user @momomo_us. The new CPUs will succeed the previous Core i3 and i7 chips while dropping the ‘i’ from the naming scheme.

The leaked specifications indicate that the Intel Core 7 150U and Core 5 120U will have 10 cores and 12 threads, while the entry-level Intel Core 3 100U will feature 6 cores and 8 threads. These non-Ultra Intel Core processors will come with Intel HD graphics as the integrated GPU, unlike the Core Ultra processors which feature the Intel Meteor Lake ‘Arc’ graphics.

Although these processors are currently appearing on Asus’ website, they are not yet listed in Intel’s database, suggesting that they are still upcoming releases.

The power consumption of these processors is not yet known, but as they are U-Series chips, it is likely that they will operate between 9W and 30W, depending on the configuration chosen by the manufacturer.

When released in new mid-range and entry-level laptops, these new Intel Core ‘Non-Ultra’ processors are expected to provide users with improved battery life and performance. Further details about their internal architecture will be revealed by Intel when they are officially launched. Rumors suggest that these non-Ultra processors may not feature a new architecture, contrary to the Core Ultra processors.
