Google Enhances Bard with Paid Subscription Model

Google is going all-in with its AI chatbot, Bard, by developing an upgraded version called Bard Advanced. Unlike its predecessor, Bard Advanced will not be available for free. Instead, Google plans to offer advanced features and capabilities through a paid subscription service called Google One. This move positions Bard Advanced as a direct competitor to ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.

According to recent reports, developer Dylan Roussel discovered the upcoming version of Bard and revealed that it will be accessible to users through a paid subscription plan on Google One. While the feature is still under development, users can expect to enjoy a three-month free trial period. Bard Advanced is anticipated to provide users with an enhanced and comprehensive experience, including advanced mathematics and reasoning skills.

In addition to Bard Advanced, Roussel also uncovered a new feature codenamed Motoko. This feature has the potential to empower users to create their own customized bots. It remains uncertain whether these bots can be shared or if there will be associated costs to access this function. However, this development aligns with OpenAI’s introduction of custom bot creation and sharing for GPT Plus subscribers.

Developer Bedros Pamboukian further confirmed Google’s commitment to providing a more sophisticated AI experience by mentioning an upcoming “advanced” tier.

Google has been continuously improving Bard, with recent updates including its ability to analyze and understand YouTube videos. Users can now ask Bard for details about specific video content, such as cooking recipes, further expanding its capabilities. Google has also introduced updates enabling Bard to assist with math equations, summarize emails, generate charts, and more.

As part of its larger language model development, Google plans to launch Gemini Ultra in the coming months. This model, designed for highly complex tasks, is currently undergoing fine-tuning and safety testing based on partner feedback.

With Bard Advanced and its other updates, Google strives to offer an enhanced AI experience to users, solidifying its position in the AI chatbot market.
