Google Plans to Launch Bard Advanced as Part of Subscription Service

Google is reportedly gearing up to introduce a new chatbot subscription service called Bard Advanced, as it seeks to capitalize on the growing popularity of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The tech giant’s new service is said to offer a more advanced language model with enhanced math and reasoning capabilities. According to a screenshot shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) by Android app developer Dylan Roussel, the service will be available as part of Google One, the company’s existing subscription program. The screenshot also reveals that Google will be offering a three-month free trial of Bard Advanced.

Although the features discussed in the thread are marked as “unreleased” and subject to change, Roussel mentions that the service will leverage Google’s Gemini Ultra AI model. Google’s Gemini is aimed at developing more practical AI that can interact with users in a collaborative and helpful manner. The company’s push for advanced AI models was outlined by Eli Collins, vice-president of product at Google DeepMind, at a recent event.

This move by Google follows the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus subscription, which experienced overwhelming demand and had to pause new signups temporarily. The growing popularity of AI subscriptions can be attributed to consumers’ increasing digital engagement and their desire for conversational AI in their daily lives. A recent PYMNTS Intelligence study titled “How the World Does Digital: Daily Digital Engagement Hits New Heights” found that there were significant year-over-year increases in digital transformation across various areas of consumers’ lives.

Despite the growing interest in AI subscriptions, some consumers may hesitate to add more paid memberships to their budgets. A separate study by PYMNTS Intelligence revealed that only 19% of respondents would prioritize paying their subscription bills in full, while 50% would opt to cancel the service. It remains to be seen how Google’s Bard Advanced will fare in the competitive landscape of AI chatbot subscriptions, but the tech giant seems poised to leverage its advanced AI technology to attract and retain subscribers.
