Google Introduces Bard Advanced: A New AI Experience

Google is unveiling its latest AI offering, Bard Advanced, which promises to provide users with access to cutting-edge models and capabilities. This new upgrade comes as part of Google’s Gemini LLM update, in which Bard Pro outperformed ChatGPT on six out of eight benchmarks.

While the details of Bard Advanced were initially scarce, it was expected that this tier would come with a price tag to compete with OpenAI’s $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus. Recently, evidence supporting this assumption emerged when full-stack developer Bedros Pamboukian tweeted about a promotional deal in Bard’s code, offering a three-month trial of Bard Advanced. Android developer Dylan Roussel also reported receiving a pop-up advertisement for the same trial.

Although the pricing for Bard Advanced is yet to be disclosed, both Pamboukian and Roussel mentioned that the trial offer is available through Google One—a subscription service that combines Google cloud storage with various tools and services starting at $1.99 per month.

Additionally, Roussel shared some upcoming features of Bard, including “Power Up,” which allows users to leverage AI to enhance their prompts, and Motoko, a tool for creating AI-powered chatbots. Another feature in the pipeline is the generation of foreground and background images for websites or smartphones.

Google had previously positioned Bard Advanced as a preview for Gemini Ultra, the company’s most advanced and capable model designed to tackle complex tasks across various data formats. The company emphasized that extensive safety checks would be conducted before launching a trusted tester program for Bard Advanced, with plans to make it available to more users by early 2024.

With the introduction of Bard Advanced, Google aims to further enhance the AI capabilities accessible to users, providing them with powerful tools to tackle a wide range of tasks efficiently.
