In a remarkable demonstration of logistical finesse, Express Global Logistics (EXG) has carried out an awe-inspiring feat by transporting massive modules for a cutting-edge green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia. The venture demanded the movement of 14 enormous structures, each weighing up to an impressive 250 tonnes and stretching 50 meters in length—amounting to a total mass of roughly 1,500 freight tonnes.
EXG skillfully utilized advanced Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) from their specialized Megaload fleet. This challenging operation involved utilizing 48 axle lines, power pack units, and custom-engineered spacers to ensure the smooth transportation of these colossal modules.
The team employed a roll-on roll-off (RoRo) approach for eight of the units, efficiently loading them onto vessels using ramp plates and stools while maintaining even weight distribution through careful ballasting. The remaining six modules required meticulous coordination, as SPMTs transferred them to a jetty where they were carefully lifted using crawler cranes.
This ambitious project illustrated EXG’s ability to successfully navigate complex transportation challenges through strategic planning and state-of-the-art equipment. Their meticulously planned operations showcased both precision and commitment to safety, emblematic of their engineering expertise.
In a strategic development in January 2023, EXG joined forces with Italian logistics leader Fagioli to form Megaload. This collaboration has expanded their capabilities, offering cutting-edge lifting solutions across various industries such as petrochemical and construction. This significant achievement reinforces EXG’s reputation for excellence and innovation in heavy transport logistics, paving the way for future advancements in the industry.
